A one-day mission experience where you don't need a passport!
The Nations Are Here! You don't have to move to the other side of the world to be on mission. Register your group (min of 8) for a full-day of cross-cultural experiences that will help you better understand the people God has moved to our city and how you can minister to them right here.
Discovery Day - FAQ
What can I expect at Discovery Day? The day will begin with an overview of GoTEN, followed by a presentation of the different people groups God has brought to our city and how they got here. You will tour GoTEN's ministry center where we teach English and sewing. You will be given a brief training on some dos and don'ts about interacting with other cultures while assembling "Refugee Welcome Kits." Just before lunch, we will deliver the kits to newly arriving refugees in our area. After lunch at an ethnic restaurant, we will return to GoTEN's training center to discover next steps and opportunities for ongoing engagement with the people you met throughout the day.
Who can attend? Discovery Day events are designed for adults. Participants must be at least 16 years of age to attend. Discovery Day is a perfect opportunity for a small group to learn and serve together. Groups are welcome.
Where is it held? The day is hosted at GoTEN's Training Center and includes activities that speak to your head, heart, and hands. Once you register, we will send you specific instructions including where to park, what to wear, and how you can prepare.
Why does it cost money? In addition to lunch that we provide, your fee helps provide the refugee welcome kit and backpacks for school-aged kids. If you or your family would like to provide a welcome kit or backpacks, download the instructions and plan to bring them with you. Please let us know if you plan to bring a kit (not required).
How do I register? Please complete the registration form to get started. We collect some basic information about your group and then our staff works with you to plan the best day for your group.
