Boman arrived in America from Afghanistan with nothing but a few belongings and a heart full of hope. Isolated in a small apartment just a few miles from GoTEN’s Training Center, he found himself navigating a world where he couldn’t yet understand the language. Determined to change his circumstances, Boman began taking the light rail twice a week to attend English classes at GoTEN.

It wasn’t long before the community at GoTEN became Boman’s second family. We visited him often, bringing furniture to fill his bare apartment and offering the one thing he needed most: friendship. With our help, Boman found a job, saving enough to buy a car. His confidence grew with each step forward.

Although his English is still a work in progress, Boman’s determination doesn’t stop there. With the support of his GoTEN teachers, he studied for the math portion of his GED—and he passed. Now, he dreams of going to college and studying computer science, knowing that with hard work and support, anything is possible.

The story of Boman is just one of many that shows how the GoTEN Training Center empowers individuals to build a new life. Together, we provide the tools, the guidance, and the friendship that can turn hope into reality.
