Join GoTEN in the Middle East for a relational mission experience serving alongside local partners working with refugee families displaced by conflict and hardship. Our team will spend time in refugee communities, visiting families in their homes, listening to their stories, meeting practical needs, and building meaningful relationships. Through home visits, community outreach, local church ministries, and everyday conversations, you’ll have opportunities to encourage people and share the hope of Jesus.

This trip isn’t simply about delivering aid or completing projects. It’s about being present with people. You’ll sit in homes, share meals and conversations, hear stories of resilience and loss, and learn from local believers who are faithfully serving their communities. As relationships develop, there will be opportunities to pray with families, share stories from Scripture, and communicate the Gospel in natural and culturally appropriate ways.

Throughout the trip, you’ll serve alongside trusted local partners who understand the language, culture, and needs of the communities we visit. The team will also experience local food and culture, visit significant places in the region, worship with local believers, pray together, and gain a deeper understanding of God’s heart for refugees and displaced people.

What You'll Do

  • Visit refugee families and spend time hearing their stories
  • Serve alongside local organizations and churches working with displaced communities
  • Help meet practical needs through food, supplies, and other forms of assistance
  • Build relationships through home visits and community outreach
  • Share stories from Scripture and the hope of Jesus as opportunities arise
  • Pray with and encourage refugee families
  • Participate in local church and youth ministry activities

John 5:17 - "My Father is always at His work to this very day, and I too am working." Join Missio PHX's youth group as we partner with GoTEN and journey to love, serve, and share amongst a diverse multi-cultural community in South Asia. Come learn, pray, and see how God is at work to this very day, moving unreached and oppressed into areas where there is a greater chance for them to hear the Good News. When we are willing to stop, turn, and enter into the spaces where God is at work, we learn better what He is doing, how to join Him in prayer, and how to join Him in action. On this trip, we will visit homes of refugees looking for opportunities to share as the Spirit leads. We will also serve in an English club and explore the different peoples & religions of Asia. We will work alongside local believers and ask how we can continue to bless work overseas long after we return home. The cost of the trip is $3000 (including airfare). Once accepted, a $100 deposit is required to hold your spot.

Join GoTEN for a unique trip focused on presence, friendship, and making initial connections in a sensitive part of the world.

This is not a traditional evangelism or outreach trip. Participants will enter as tourists and connect naturally with people through everyday activities such as excursions, parks, crafts, food, recreation, and sports. Our goal is to listen, learn, build trust, and create opportunities for relationships that long-term workers can continue developing after the team returns home. The team will also spend intentional time with long-term workers who often serve in isolated and challenging circumstances. Your presence will provide encouragement, connection, prayer, and Christian community—reminding these workers that they are known, supported, and not alone.

This trip is a good fit for people who are:

  • Flexible and comfortable with changing plans
  • Adventurous and willing to try unfamiliar things
  • Natural encouragers and relationship-builders
  • Equipped with a pioneering spirit
  • Thoughtful photographers who can follow security and privacy guidelines
  • Willing to serve quietly without needing immediate or visible results

Participants should be prepared for warm weather, considerable walking, excursions, and a moderate level of physical exertion. Cultural sensitivity, discretion, patience, and the ability to follow team leadership are essential.

Because of the sensitive nature of this opportunity, the specific location and additional details will be shared with qualified applicants during the application process.

Join GoTEN for a relationship-centered trip serving refugee families alongside a trusted local partner in the Middle East. Our partner has established a community center that provides compassionate, long-term support through a clinic, school, and local church. Rather than creating a separate program, our team will come alongside the work already taking place—following the leadership of people who understand the community, culture, and needs. During the trip, team members may: - Visit refugee families in their homes - Assist with educational activities and support local teachers - Serve alongside qualified medical professionals in the clinic - Spend time listening to, encouraging, and building relationships with families - Support the local staff, ministry leaders, and long-term workers who serve daily - Provide Christian encouragement, connection, and community to those carrying the work forward We are especially looking for teachers, nurses, doctors, and other qualified professionals who can contribute within their areas of experience. We also need relational servants—people who are willing to listen, learn, encourage, play with children, share meals, and serve wherever needed. This trip is a good fit for people who are: - Flexible, humble, and culturally sensitive - Comfortable entering homes and building relationships across cultures - Willing to follow the direction of local leaders - Ready to serve without needing to be at the center - Able to listen well and offer genuine encouragement - Prepared for changing schedules and unfamiliar environments Our goal is not simply to meet immediate needs. It is to strengthen relationships, support sustainable local ministry, and encourage the people who faithfully serve refugee families throughout the year.

Impact Team

Location
The Islands, Asia
Cost
$3,300.00

$100.00

Go somewhere few people go. Build friendships with people few Christians ever meet. Help open doors for relationships that can last long after you come home.

The Island Impact Team is an opportunity to serve among one of the world’s least-reached populations. You’ll travel alongside experienced GoTEN leaders and spend your days meeting people, experiencing the culture, and creating natural opportunities for friendship.

This won’t look like a typical mission trip. Because we are serving in a sensitive part of the world, our team will travel as tourists and spend time where people naturally gather. You might join an excursion, play soccer or other sports, visit a park, share a meal, do crafts with kids, explore a neighborhood, or simply sit down for a conversation.

The goal is simple: meet people and build relationships.

A conversation you begin could become a friendship that a long-term worker continues. A family you meet could become connected to someone who lives there. Your willingness to listen, learn, laugh, play, and spend time with people can help create opportunities for the Gospel that continue long after your trip is over.

You’ll also spend time with long-term workers serving in a place where following Jesus can feel lonely and isolated. Sometimes your impact is simply showing up—sharing a meal, praying together, listening to their stories, encouraging them, and reminding them that they are part of something bigger.

What You’ll Do

  • Connect — Meet local students, young adults, families, and kids through everyday activities.
  • Explore — Experience the islands through excursions, food, recreation, neighborhoods, and local culture.
  • Build Relationships — Start friendships that long-term workers can continue after you leave.
  • Encourage — Spend time with workers who live and serve in challenging and isolated environments.
  • Learn — Discover what it looks like to live, work, and share your faith cross-culturally in a place where very few people know Jesus.
  • Pray — See the people and places firsthand and learn how to pray specifically for an unreached nation.

Is This Trip for You?

You don’t need to be an experienced missionary or have all the right words. We’re looking for college students who are willing to show up, be flexible, meet new people, and step outside their comfort zone.

This trip is especially suited for students who are adventurous, relational, curious about other cultures, willing to try unfamiliar things, and comfortable serving without always seeing immediate results. You should be prepared for warm weather, lots of walking, changing plans, and a moderate level of physical activity.

Most importantly, come ready to learn. You may go hoping to make an impact on an unreached people—and discover that God uses the experience to make an impact on you as well.

Because we’ll be serving in a sensitive location, specific details about the country and our work will be shared with qualified applicants during the application process.
