Pivotal Days Ahead in the Global Fight for Rohingya Justice
For decades—and most intensely over the past eight years—the Rohingya people have endured systematic persecution that has drawn international attention. Waves of violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine State forced hundreds of thousands to flee, with most crossing into Bangladesh. Today, the majority remain in Cox’s Bazar, the world’s largest refugee camp, where families face food shortages, scarce medical care, and major obstacles in education for their children. Meanwhile, those still in Myanmar continue to experience brutal attacks by the military and allied militias, acts widely condemned as violations of international law.
Earlier this week, Bangladesh hosted a three-day gathering focused on the Rohingya crisis. Interim leader Muhammad Yunus voiced concern that his country may not be able to sustain long-term support for the roughly 1.5 million refugees currently within its borders. The event was intended to keep international attention on the crisis, and more discussions are already scheduled—one during the UN General Assembly in New York on September 30 and another in Doha, Qatar on December 6.
The concern and effort to keep the Rohingya from being forgotten is promising, but for the millions that have been stateless for years, promises tend to feel empty. Aside from physical needs, hopelessness is the greatest battle being fought by the Rohingya today. Our staff that are engaged in the Rohingya communities in Phoenix and in Asia work consistently to bring hope where it’s lacking, and we appreciate your continued prayer over that work! We faithfully trust that God has a plan to deliver the Rohingya, and ask that you join us in praying over the upcoming global events, that God may use them for His glory and to bring much needed justice for our friends.
Pray for Provision – Ask God to provide food, medical care, and education for Rohingya families both in refugee camps and in Myanmar.
Pray for Hope – Pray that the Rohingya, many of whom feel forgotten, would experience the hope and love of Christ through relationships with His people.
Pray for Justice – Lift up the upcoming international gatherings, asking that leaders would act with wisdom and courage to protect the Rohingya and work toward lasting solutions.
