English classes

Learn language. Build friendship.

Free English classes create a place where refugee neighbors grow in confidence while students and volunteers learn, laugh, and build community together.

Volunteer as an English Encourager

You don’t need to be a teacher.

Classes meet Monday through Thursday and use a computer-based curriculum. Volunteers serve as personal coaches, helping two or three students navigate lessons, track progress, and stay encouraged.

A consistent 90 minutes each week creates space for language practice and the kind of trust that grows into friendship.

What volunteers bring

  • Consistency for one class each week
  • Patience, curiosity, and encouragement
  • A willingness to learn across cultures
  • No previous teaching experience required
