Futures Changed
When Fareed first joined the Kids’ Program at GoTEN in May 2023, he, like many refugee children, faced significant language and cultural barriers. His early days were filled with frustration, and he could say only a few words like 'bathroom' and 'Mom.' The transition to a new country is particularly difficult for refugee children, who often struggle to adjust in school, learn a new language, and form friendships.
But thanks to the support of The Grid, Fareed’s story began to change. Over time, Fareed blossomed. He now speaks in full sentences, recognizes all the letters of the alphabet, and can count to thirty. His vocabulary is expanding rapidly, and he's on track to start Kindergarten next fall.
Fareed’s father recently shared how proud he is of his son’s progress and how the Kids’ Program has lifted a burden from their family. Fareed’s mother, Luna, can now focus on her own English classes, knowing her son is thriving. Through The Grid, families like Fareed’s receive the support they need to build new futures, both in and outside the classroom.
